2011 Other Events

The Festival is very participatory – there are lots of chances for you to take an active part no matter what your area of interest or level of ability. The Ceilidh – the evening dance with a caller to walk you through all the steps first and lots of high energy live music from guests, The String Contingent. This year the ceilidh will be held on the Sunday evening.

The Festival Choir – this year the Choir will be led by Kate Marshall of  guest band Hard Candy. There will be two choir sessions, the second one of which will include the choir’s concert. Come along and learn to sing in harmony.

Blackboard concerts – okay so we use a whiteboard, but the blackboard concerts are the opportunity for you to get up and play or sing a couple of numbers. Over the years, there have been some amazing performances in the blackboard concerts.

Folk Service – a non-denominational service for those who want to remember it’s Sunday and not just the Festival’s second day.

Home brew appreciation – get brewing and bring along some samples for the rest of us to appreciate. See more here.

Trad singing – an opportunity to sing all those shanties and chorus songs we know. No instruments allowed in this late night session.
