The words and music of Bill Morris conjure up rugged landscapes and gritty urban scenes, detailing the emotional experience of each protagonist as they face heartbreak, joy and loss.

Because of this story-telling ability his music has often been described as folk. For his second album, Hinterland, Bill Morris turns to a more country style as he writes poetically of the human condition in relation to the landscape around us, each song a gem of clear-cut precision.

The album has been produced by John Egenes at Albany Street Studios in Dunedin, and Bill will be performing the album with the Hinterland Band, featuring John Dodd (bass), Steve Hudson drums and John Egenes.

Bill Morris is a songwriter, filmmaker and writer from southern New Zealand. He grew up in remote South Island mountain country and is now based in the coastal city of Dunedin.
As well as writing and performing original songs he also makes documentaries and has recently completed an award-winning feature length film about fellow New Zealand songwriter Donna Dean.

Bill also writes for magazines including New Zealand Geographic and is passionate about science and conservation in the southern region of New Zealand.
