Notice of 2015 AGM

The annual Wellington Folk Festival is organised by The Wellington Regional Folk Foundation – an Incorporated Society and Registered Charity run by a committee of volunteers who seek to bring you the best of folk music and dance to Wellington every Labour Weekend.

For the annual sub of $1 (yes only one) anyone can become a member of the Foundation and as a member, elect the committee who have the serious responsibility of organising the festival.

So, if you want to influence who does this (or maybe even stand for election to the committee and get involved directly) you can join the outgoing committee and other Members of the Foundation for the AGM.

Where:           ETCO Training Centre, Level 1, 145 Thorndon Quay, Wellington

When:            Sunday, March 1st at 4pm

If you are not a member already you can pay your sub and have full speaking and voting rights at the meeting on the day.

Feedback survey

Thanks to everyone who responded to our survey about the 2014 festival – what was right and what needs some improvement.

We received 91 responses, which is just fantastic. Take a bow, all those of you who took the time to give us your feedback.

The committee has had a chance to do an initial review of the responses and discuss the key messages, which include:

  • making the Balladeer bigger to give more space for those wanting to eat as well as those wanting to listen to music.
  • a mixed range of responses to whether or not you’re happy to pay more to have key overseas guests, themed concerts and the small marquee
  • some comments on the facilities and catering.

The Committee will shortly be looking at the guest proposals for the 2015 festival and, when doing so, we will factor your feedback into the decisions that we make.

Thanks again for helping us to understand what’s important to you all.

Guest applications for 2015 are closed…….

Thanks to all the applicants.

We have over 80 applications! So the committee are going to have to make some hard calls in pulling together a programme for the 2015 festival.

If you are an applicant we will let you know as soon as we can – probably 6 weeks+ by the time we’ve reviewed all the material, done initial programming and balanced the budget.
